A rare-book dealer offers two hunters $20,000 to steal a single volume from an old man in St. Francisville, LA. The job should be simple: get in, get the book, get out before dawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the Ledger is more than a rare book. It binds the people whose names are written inside, feeds life to whoever owns it, taking it from the Named. And it has kept Elias Crane alive for nearly a century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The closer the hunters get to the truth, the harder the job becomes\u2014not because they can\u2019t steal the Ledger, but because once they have it, they have to decide what to do with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
