Quest Summary
Do you need a dedicated horror RPG system to run a great horror game? Bill and Jon look at Hunter's Inc., a stripped-down vampire-hunting RPG, and use it to dig into what actually makes horror work at the tabletop: lightweight systems, fear mechanics, player vulnerability, investigation, atmosphere, the unknown, and why sometimes the best rules are the ones that stay out of the way.
Then Bill previews The Ledger, a short supernatural-noir horror adventure set in Louisiana. The job sounds simple: steal an old book for $20,000. By midnight, the hunters will learn that the book owns half the town, their client has tried this before, and the last 200 people she hired never left. Plus: why the 1980s remain such an effective setting for horror, and how modern technology changes suspense, isolation, and investigation at the table.
"Does horror need its own rules, or can almost any RPG system become a horror game with the right GM, setting, and atmosphere?"
